Information on Preparing Posters and Poster Previews

Guide to Poster Previews and Poster Presentations

Poster Previews

Poster Previews are IRACDA 2018’s version of lightning talks.  They are an opportunity to advertise your work and convince folks to visit your poster to learn more. Fourteen poster abstracts will be selected for Poster Previews. Poster Previews will take place during the opening remarks on Sunday July 15 and the morning welcome on Monday July 16.

Presenters can show NO MORE THAN TWO powerpoint slides:

  • 15 seconds for a title slide: title, author names, acknowledgements and funding sources
  • 105 seconds for a single research slide: a simple figure demonstrating a significant finding

Here is an example from FIRST’s Teresa Lee.

All presenters’ slides will be compiled into a timed PowerPoint. If chosen, further information will be provided regarding technology available and when to provide your slides to the session moderator.

Poster Previews will take place from 8:45-9:00 AM on Monday, July 16

Poster presentations will be done in two separate sessions on Monday July 16: 3:30-5:00 pm and 5:00-6:30 pm.  You will only be asked to stand at your poster for one session. Poster boards are 4 feet tall and 8 feet wide.  We recommend posters that are no more than 4 feet tall and ~3-4 feet wide.
